DRG Priorities

 

PRIORITIES SPECIFIC LOCAL ACTIONS
Safeguard healthy communities and active travel infrastructure via quiet low speed streets and off-road corridors Push for specific improvements to pedestrian and cycle paths, for optimal location of new cycle paths including the Garden City Cycle Route, and for specific improvements to traffic management
Promote wellbeing and inclusiveness Conduct a survey to identify and benchmark residents’ priorities.

Participate in Clean Up Australia Day.Engage constructively with Common Ground and with the ACT Government on Section 72, Dickson Aquatic Centre and Dickson College sites.

Explore upgrading of the Dickson Pool.

Liaise with other groups for effective community building.

Explore heritage tourism opportunities and heritage trail.

Represent the community effectively in ACT planning reviews and decisions Contribute to new Planning legislation, monitor ongoing DAs, and advocate for improvements to the Dickson Precinct Code and Heritage Act
Support and revitalise the shopping centre and adjoining restaurant precinct Engage with the City Renewal Authority on Woolley Street Upgrade and other initiatives. Engage with developers and ACT Government on Dickson group centre changes. Recommend specific improvements to place names, access and signage in and around Dickson shops.
Promote the interests of vulnerable residents and visitors Emphasise the needs of vulnerable residents and visitors across all priorities and specific actions
Help Dickson adapt to climate change and increased climate variability Advocate for: increased tree canopy cover, appropriate landscaping and vegetation; stormwater and flood management; draining infrastructure upgrades and maintenance; energy efficiency; disaster preparedness. Ensure these are adequately reflected in planning decisions and actual developments.
